Moving on from Lowell is an important moment for parents and students. We support our families through each step, and our team of teachers and administrators plays a central role in offering guidance and advice throughout the year.
Here’s a snapshot of several important moments leading up to and during 8th grade:
7th grade parents meet with the high school admissions team to learn about important dates, SSAT preparation, forms, teacher support, and additional resources.
The team also meets with each 7th grader's parents to discuss an initial list of school choices.
Parents and students begin school visits and may opt to meet with members of the team to discuss revisions to their lists.
Teachers and DeltaU coaches support 8th graders throughout the application process, giving helpful writing and vocabulary preparation, SSAT prep guidance, and ample time to learn and practice interviewing skills.
Lowell also handles arrangements for testing accommodations and provides space on campus for SSAT tutoring if parents would like to arrange it.
Each student's chosen schools receive a packet from Lowell that includes teacher recommendations, transcripts, and a personal cover letter.
In January and February, the head of school talks with the admissions officers in each school to promote Lowell students as candidates for admission.
