Lowell School, a progressive school of approximately 300 students in Northwest Washington, DC, seeks a Pre-Primary School (2s and 3s) Co-Teacher to cover Parental Leave from September 1, 2026–February 1, 2027. This position reports to the Director of Pre-Primary School and is a member of the Pre-Primary School Division.
Lowell School is seeking an engaging and dynamic Cello Instructor to teach students in 2nd–8th grade, starting in September. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education and expertise in both playing and teaching the cello. This role includes close collaboration with the Director of After-School Music and is anticipated to start at one day per week.
Lowell School is seeking an engaging and dynamic Drum Instructor to teach students in Kindergarten–8th grade, starting in June. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education and expertise in both drumming and instruction. This role includes close collaboration with the Director of After-School Music and is anticipated to start at one day per week.
Lowell School is seeking an engaging and dynamic Guitar Instructor to teach students in Kindergarten–8th grade, starting in September. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education and expertise in both guitar performance and instruction, and will collaborate closely with the Director of After-School Music.
Lowell School seeks a dedicated and engaging Pop Band Instructor to teach students in 4th–8th grade starting in September. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to music education, experience in ensemble direction, and the ability to create a supportive and collaborative learning atmosphere.
Lowell School is looking for an engaging and dynamic String Ensemble Instructor to teach students in 2nd–8th grade and adult participants starting this summer. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education and expertise in string performance and instruction. This role includes close collaboration with the Director of After-School Music and is anticipated to start at one day per week.
Lowell School is seeking an engaging and dynamic Violin/Viola Instructor to teach students in 2nd–8th grade, starting in September. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education and expertise in both violin and viola performance and instruction. This role includes close collaboration with the Director of After-School Music and is anticipated to start at one day per week.
Qualifications:
- 1–2+ years of music teaching experience
- Positive and friendly attitude
- Passion for working with children; ability to motivate and support children in reaching high levels of academic success
- Belief in the value of enrichment education for all children
Major Responsibilities:
- Selecting an age-appropriate repertoire
- Preparing students for performances
- Create dynamic lesson experiences that challenge and inspire students
- Show evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students
- Maintain complete and accurate records for attendance
- Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent communication with parents
Expected Salary Range:
- $60–$80 per hour
