  • Primary School Learning Specialist

    Lowell School, a progressive school of approximately 335 students in Northwest Washington, DC, is currently seeking applicants for the position of Primary School Learning Specialist. Ideal candidates will hold a Master’s degree in special education, have at least two years of experience teaching at the elementary level, and possess knowledge of the social, emotional, and academic needs of elementary-aged children. The Primary School Learning Specialist is a full-time position and reports to the Director of the Primary School. The Learning Specialist will provide classroom and instructional support to meet the needs of students with learning differences in a general education setting and targeted small group support. The Learning Specialist will also monitor student progress and play an essential role in partnering with and communicating needs, services, and accommodations to faculty, parents/guardians, and the Director of Primary School.
  • Middle School Counselor

    Lowell School, a progressive school of 335 students in NW Washington, DC, is currently seeking applicants for a full-time Middle School Counselor. This role consults and collaborates with teachers, families, and administrators to meet the social/emotional needs of individuals and groups of students from 6th through 8th grade. The ideal candidate will possess strong characteristics of emotional intelligence and a demonstrated ability to support students and families during times of social-emotional vulnerability.

The ideal candidate will have a specialized degree with experience in music and theater education, possess knowledge of the social, emotional, and academic needs of middle school students, and be well versed in best practice for delivering both instrumental and vocal instruction. The Middle School music and theater program at Lowell is highly respected, attracting many talented and enthusiastic students. This position includes serving as an advisor and will require a varied schedule, including some evenings and designated special events and performances that occur on weekends and outside of regular school hours. Ideal candidates will hold a degree in early childhood or elementary education, possess knowledge of the social, emotional, and academic needs of elementary children, and be well versed in best practices for delivering language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies instruction.
