January Jam Basketball Tournament

From January 30 to February 2, Lowell will host its 5th Annual January Jam Middle School Basketball Tournament. The Leopards will take on four teams from the DC area to play exciting and competitive ball in the Lowell Dome. It’s an incredibly exciting week! Barrie, Burke, and Barnesville all compete for the Championship!

With the first round already completed, the Lowell Girls defeated Burke on Tuesday 22-5. The Middle School Girls currently have a record of 7-3, and are led by 8th Graders Juliana and Frankie. In the second game, Barnesville defeated Barrie 24-17, earning the other spot in the championship game versus Lowell. Long time rivals, the Leopards have played Barnesville twice this season already. Each team has won once, the games were decided by a total of five points. It will definitely be an incredibly exciting contest! In the third place game, Burke will play Barrie at 4:00 pm.
 
The Middle School Boys hosted Barrie in the first round, winning a tightly contested game 31-26. Despite trailing at half time, the Leopards got clutch play from Jay (17 points) and Tristan (11 points) to advance to the Championship Game. Jay made 3 straight three pointers in the third quarter, while Tristan made six clutch free throws in the final stanza. Currently 8-3, the Middle School Boys are having one of the best seasons in Lowell history. Barnesville defeated Burke 46-26 in the second game, earning a rematch against Lowell. Early in the season, Lowell beat Barnesville on the road 29-22, but lost last week at home 44-42. It promises to be a great game! In the third place game, Barrie will take on Burke at 4:00 pm.
 
Please come join us in the dome at 5pm for the Championships Games on Thursday, February 1 and Friday, Feburary 2. Let’s pack the dome and make noise for our outstanding basketball teams!
