It's More than PJs and Pancakes!
If you were in the Pre-Primary School last Friday, you would have seen the whole division decked out in pajamas. Children traveled from classroom to classroom for special activities—watching a movie in the Wonder Lab, making nightlights and playing with glow-in-the-dark cars in the Explorers Room, enjoying storytime with puppets in the Voyager's Room, eating owl-shaped treats for snack in the Adventurers Room, and dancing beneath the stars in Elly Porter's Nighttime Theater.
The day was celebratory, but it was the culmination of a weeks-long unit on nighttime, during which children had the opportunity to explore a time of day that can seem both scary and mysterious. At this time of year, trust has already been built in classrooms, and children can ask questions and share fears—as well as explore all the amazing things that happen when the sun goes down!
