STEMFest

Sailing into STEMfest

This month, 1st graders found out that nothing is truly empty. The students conducted several experiments in a new physical science unit discovering the properties of air. Through their experiments, they tested the capabilities of air to move objects. This led 1st graders to the Middle School science lab where they constructed sailboats and extended their understanding. They tested the strength of different shapes and sizes of sails and raced the sailboats to test their hypotheses.

This is just one of the many units that will be highlighted during STEMfest on March 7 from 10:00am-12:00pm.

STEMfest is an exposition of science, technology, engineering and mathematical integration from across the curriculum at Lowell. Come explore, play, and discover with Lowell student STEMgineers! There will be fun for the whole family, so save the date!

Want to help?

There are many ways you can help ensure the continued success of STEMFest. If you would like to volunteer, contact Steve Irwin or Toni Waymer or use Sign Up Genius.

If you have tools in good working condition that you are no longer using, please consider donating them to Lowell. We will be collecting items at STEMFest. Here's what the science, art, and stagecraft programs are looking for:
