First graders celebrated the grand opening of their model town, Leopard City, on December 21, 2018. The celebration is the culmination of their urban planning unit. The opening ceremony also highlights the integration of dance and music in the model town unit with the tradition of handing over of the keys to Division Director Jason Novak and Head of School Debbie Gibbs after revealing the town's name. Faculty, students, and staff surprised Debbie with a special gift to honor her tenure at Lowell, a birdhouse shaped like Lowell's Primary School building. The festivities continued with the "Jazzy Cars" dance performance followed by the annual Festival of Lighting and Writing when students will share their reading and writing work with family members.
