Discovery Room Students Explore the Wonder Lab

Children in the Discovery Room were introduced to the Wonder Lab this week by Director of Pre-Primary Stefania Rubino, who is also their science teacher. They explored different areas of the lab, including the small block area, a LEGO wall, and the lab with specimen trays, puzzles, and sensory objects. When introducing a new space, it is important for children to “get acquainted with a new environment gradually and intentionally,” says Stefania. Visuals are used around the room to guide children through the self-exploration so they can easily move to different areas as they investigate.

The Wonder Lab debuted in 2014 as a dedicated space for observation and experimentation. It offers opportunities for hands-on discoveries of the natural world while integrating technology, engineering, and math inquiry for Pre-Primary students. Activities in this space help children develop collaboration, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.
