Lowell School is committed to protecting privacy.

Data Collected and Purpose

Lowell does not allow any third parties to have access to your personal data (such as name, contact information, date of birth, gender, citizenship, ethnicity, and employment), except as required or permitted by applicable laws. We may disclose personal data to our subcontractors, agents, or payment service providers that we contract with to assist us in providing the services, provided that any such subcontractors or agents agree to comply with privacy and security standards used by Lowell.

Lowell may use personal information for any legally permissible reason, including admissions decisions, tuition contracts, financial aid decisions, billing, educational records, students' educational experience, communications about the school community, providing educational services, responding to inquiries and questions, and fundraising on behalf of the school.

Data Processors

Lowell uses some third-party companies or systems to process personal data. We also provide your information to third parties in circumstances where we believe that doing so is necessary or appropriate to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect our rights and safety and the rights and safety of our users or others.

In any instance where we need to share your personal data with third parties, we will restrict the nature and categories of personal data to that which is required to comply with our contractual obligations to you or our legal and/or regulatory requirements. We may de-identify your personal data to protect your privacy.

Consent

Where consent for the use and disclosure of personal information is required, the school will seek consent from the appropriate person. For a student's personal information, the school will seek consent from the parent(s)/guardian(s).

Access to Data

Only authorized individuals at Lowell and approved processors have access to your personal data. You may request to view, update, restrict the use of or access to, move, and delete your personal information at any time by contacting the director of technology at help@lowellschool.org. However, certain laws may require the school to retain certain personal records.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser that allows websites to "remember" your preferences (such as calendar settings and site bookmarks) on the site from visit to visit or to maintain your "logged in" status when visiting protected areas. Use of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on Lowell's website. Web browsers have settings that let you reject cookies, selectively accept them, or delete previously accepted cookies. Please be aware that rejecting or deleting cookies on our website may make certain functions unavailable to you.

Log Files and Reports

We may use web analytics tools to analyze trends in how our website is accessed and to improve how our community and visitors can find and navigate it. Information monitored can include name, internet protocol (IP) addresses, geographic location of visitors (country, city), browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, time spent on pages, and keywords used to find our site via search engines.

Please be aware that Lowell is not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each website that collects personally identifiable information.

Data Security

The Lowell School takes precautions to protect users' personal information. Whenever you submit personal information (such as contact information or credit card information) via online forms, that information is encrypted upon submission. Servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment. Credit card numbers are not stored on our website servers.

No data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. As a result, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose or transmit to us online, and we cannot be responsible for the theft, destruction, or inadvertent disclosure of your personal information.

Should there ever be a data security breach at Lowell School or at one of our data processors, Lowell will contact the appropriate authorities and notify affected persons in a timely manner.
