Summer Camp Assistant Counselor

 
Lowell School is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and creative Summer Camp Counselors to join our vibrant summer program serving children ages 30 months through 13 years. Our counselors are caring leaders who enjoy working hands-on with children, collaborating with a team, and creating joyful, memorable summer experiences.
Counselors commit to one or more three-week sessions between June 22 and August 7, 2026, with certain flexible scheduling options. Part of this commitment is the obligation to participate in staff training.
Summer 2026 Sessions
  • Session 1: June 22 – July 10
  • Session 2: July 13 – July 31
  • Last Call Camp: August 3 – August 7
    *No camp on Friday, July 3 
What You’ll Do
  • Supervise and engage campers in age-appropriate activities
  • Lead or assist with STEAM projects, games, outdoor play, and creative programming
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive camp environment
  • Model strong character, teamwork, and enthusiasm
  • Support daily routines and collaborate with fellow counselors and supervisors
Training Requirement
All staff must attend mandatory paid training, which includes program preparation, child development, safety protocols, and team-building:
  • Saturday, June 13 (9:00 am - 12:00 pm)
  • Monday, June 15-Thursday, June 18 (4:00 pm – 7:00 pm)  
Final schedules and hours will be confirmed upon hire.
Qualifications
Required:
  • At least 16 years old
  • One year of work experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children
  • Strong communication skills, patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor
  • Ability to actively participate in outdoor and indoor activities
Preferred:
  • Experience with STEAM, arts, sports, or recreational programming
  • Background in education, child development, or youth leadership
Compensation
  • $18.00 – $19.50 per hour, based on experience
  • Seasonal, in-person position
  • 35-40 hours per week
  • Work Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
