Teens who are 14–15 when camp starts are welcome to apply for acceptance into our Counselor-In-Training program. Counselors-In-Training will get hands-on experience caring for children and learn real-life lessons about early childhood development. In addition, they will gain invaluable experience as responsible, value-added employees—skills that will transfer to any and all future employment. Personal mentoring and CIT-only group meetings provide the opportunity for individual feedback on areas of strength and growth. Responsibilities are adjusted throughout the summer to align with proven abilities and interests and to ensure that each CIT gets the maximum learning and growth out of his or her experience at Lowell Summer Programs. This is an excellent path to possible employment as a Junior Counselor in future years. There is a minimum commitment of one full three-week session; a six-week commitment is preferred.
Lowell School is a private PK-8th grade school located in NW Washington, DC. At Lowell students gain the knowledge, skills, and social-emotional literacy to be the bold leaders and creative problem solvers our world needs.
