Exploring the World

Local, regional, and international field trips are carefully designed to complement the curriculum. Students gain not only valuable information and skills, they also gain confidence and independence as they navigate new settings and see the world from different perspectives. Here’s a rundown of field trips by grade.
6th grade New York City (three days), Calleva Backpacking and Adventure Trip, Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, Student Diversity Leadership Conference
7th grade “Civil War to Civil Rights” trip to Memphis, Birmingham, and Selma (one week); AFI Silver Theater; Gettysburg; American Art Museum; Inova Heart and Vascular Institute; Newseum
8th grade Costa Rica service-learning trip (one week), Folger Shakespeare Library, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, American Visionary Art Museum
