Grandguest Days

We were thrilled to host our first-ever virtual Grandguest Days just before spring break. Grandguests zoomed into the festivities from all over the country and world, including Malaysia, Kenya, Australia, France, and Brazil! Grandguests Days took place over two days with a welcome each day from Donna. Primary School grandguests visited classrooms and heard from our specialists, who demonstrated how we make music, Spanish, art, dance, science, library, and technology a central part of a Lowell education even during a pandemic. Middle School grandguests joined Gathering and heard from the art team about the range of projects students have taken on this year—from playing card-themed art series to musical compositions and short videos. Pre-Primary grandguests visited virtual classrooms and sang along with Audrey during a special Grandguest Day Singing Meeting.

Given the events of this past year, Grandguest Days were especially meaningful since they allowed many grandguests to visit with grandchildren they had not seen in a very long time. As one grandparent said: “As grandguests who live a couple of thousand miles from our grandkids, we feel particularly deprived of contact with our family during these challenging times. You and the Lowell team did an extraordinary job bringing us closer to the loved ones we miss. The creativity and imagination shared by all your staff made our hearts jump with joy.” A big thank you to all the Lowell teachers who enthusiastically shared the Lowell magic with grandguests from near and very, very far!
