Spring Athletics Wrap-up

With 168 athletes participating in athletics this season on five different teams, Lowell enjoyed an extraordinary spring.

Sr. Track and Field
Led by DC Champion and nationally ranked long jumper Isabella Castillo, the Senior Track and Field team placed 4th/19 at the highly competitive Draper Invitational. At that meet, Lowell came home with four medals as Kayla won the discus with a 60’ throw. Later in the season, Brielle took the shot put at St Alban’s with a 31’ throw. Isabella jumped 16’6”, placing her tenth in the nation for Middle School, and was undefeated in both the 100 and 200 meters this season. Dylan cleared 4’8” in the high jump and ran the 200 in 27 seconds, winning the event at Landon. Lowell had an unprecedented 19 school records this season, including all six of the relay events!

Lacrosse
On the lacrosse field, Elodie and Avery both scored multiple hat tricks. The team scored a season high seven goals in the second half against Woods Academy – and played an exciting back and forth game with Barnesville as well.

Baseball
Baseball enjoyed its first ever win on the road at Norwood, victorious by a score of 3-1. The team was led by their pitching duo of Nate and Ezra, in addition to the extraordinary batting of Eli, who hit over .500 for the season. The team enjoyed a 2-2 record, scoring a season-high eight runs versus Field School at Meadowbrook Park.

Ultimate Frisbee
With an entirely new and very young ultimate frisbee roster, the Leopards gained a ton of knowledge of the game and the skills to go with it. The team defeated Edlin 12-7 in their final game and played two close battles with ACDS. Led by Captain Dava, the team was always in the right place at the right time.
