7th Grade Companion Books

Seventh graders work side-by-side to finish their final essays for their companion books this week. Similar to SparkNotes, companion books summarize various elements and issues of a book. Students read books that piqued their interest including graphic novels, as well as classics. As they read, students detailed essential information, main ideas, and topics. Their essays vary in scope and focus on capturing their book's setting, plot, conflict, and character relationships. As they write, 7th graders are challenged to distill complex information and form a narrative in their essays. Next week, students will share their companion books with the class.
