Chess Team Preps for US Middle School Championship in Dallas
Last weekend, members of Lowell’s chess team participated in the MD Chess Scholastic Tournament at Roland Park with top-notch results. Max Fitch-Connelly ‘21 won three out of four games landing fourth in the 800-1199 section. Diego Zein ‘21 came in fourth in the under 800 group, winning four out of five games. Elias Weetjens ‘21 came in fifth in the same group, winning three out of five games. Diego and Elias won the third place team trophy.
After School Chess Teacher Lizzie Sadoff will take these three and Aidan Becker ‘21, Ben Mannes ‘21, and Ethan Vandivier ‘21 to the 2019 National Junior High Championship in Texas April 26-28. Johnny Sadoff—a former DC high school champion—will accompany the team as an unofficial coach. Good luck leopards!
