Preparing for High School...and Beyond
Our comprehensive program prepares students to thrive wherever they continue their education. We support families through each step of the high school admissions process, and our teachers and administrators play central roles in offering guidance and advice throughout the year. As a result, Lowell graduates find high schools that best match their academic strengths and interests.
How We Support Students and Families
- In the spring of their 7th-grade year, families meet with the high school admissions team to learn about important dates, SSAT preparation, forms, teacher support, and additional resources.
- The team meets with each 7th grader’s parents/guardians to discuss an initial list of school choices.
- Parents/guardians and students begin school visits and may opt to meet with team members to discuss revisions to their lists.
- Once their 8th-grade year begins, teachers and Delta coaches support students throughout the application process, giving helpful writing and vocabulary preparation, SSAT prep guidance, and time to learn and practice interviewing skills.
- Lowell makes arrangements for testing accommodations and provides on-campus space for SSAT tutoring if parents/guardians would like to arrange it for their child.
- Each student’s chosen schools receive a packet from Lowell that includes teacher recommendations, transcripts, and a personal cover letter.
- In January and February, the head of school and the division director meet with admissions officers at each school to discuss our students and why they are strong candidates for admission.
