Giving Opportunities
Charitable support from the entire Lowell community is a tradition as venerable as Lowell itself.
Volunteer support was part of the founding mothers' plan in 1966 when their nursery school for about 20 children opened its doors in the basement of a church on Lowell Street and the first semester tuition was $325.
Four decades later, Lowell is a leader among Progressive schools for three-year-olds through 6th grade. It could not have happened without generous gifts of financial resources, time, talent, and expertise from current and alumni parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, friends, and alumni. The families at Lowell today stand on the shoulders of families who were here before them. Each member of the community is asked to be part of this sustaining tradition.
Time and expertise are precious commodities
Lowell could never afford to purchase the services that parents and others in the Lowell community offer with their gifts of time, energy, and creativity. Members of the Lowell community serve on the Board of Trustees, volunteer in the Library and serve as resources for parents and teachers.
The Parents Association sponsors a variety of fundraising and friendraising opportunities, the most important being the Annual Auction to benefit financial assistance. Learn more about Parent Association activities and/or to volunteer to help.
Personal connections to foundations and other philanthropic organizations and individuals can have a significant impact on the school's fundraising efforts.

Lowell is a non-profit with a 501 (c) (3) designation.
Annual Giving is the most important of our fundraising efforts. It provides the margin of difference for Lowell's outstanding teachers, curriculum, and campus. Supported by the entire Lowell community, the school is proud that current parent participation each year is among the highest for independent schools in the area.
In addition to Annual Giving, major gifts and capital campaigns are also critical to the continued strength of the school. The purchase and renovation of the Kalmia campus and Lowell's $3 million Endowment are the result of multi-year campaigns with goals in the millions.
