Endowment

Lowell is pleased to have created a $3 million endowment in the last 10 years.

While it is a laudable achievement, increasing the endowment continues to be an institutional priority. A robust endowment contributes to the school's financial stability and is one of the important indicators of its long term success. Income from the endowment contributes a stream of revenue to enhance the program and take pressure off of tuition increases by supporting teacher salaries, financial assistance, staff development, or whatever is needed most.

Gifts for the Endowment may be directed towards the following funds:

General Endowment

The unrestricted General Endowment offers Lowell the most flexibility to meet the present and future needs of the school.

The Abigail Wiebenson Fund for Teacher Salaries

The Abigail Wiebenson Fund for Teacher Salaries honors Abigail's 19 years as Director of Lowell and supports the school's most valuable assets.

The Theresa Anderson Chair of Mathematics

The Theresa Anderson Chair of Mathematics honors a living legend and helps ensure that Lowell will be able to continue to offer a math program worthy of Theresa's legacy of innovation.

The Founding Teachers' Fund for Faculty Salaries

The Founding Teachers' Fund for Faculty Salaries honors Dottie Podgorny, Theresa Anderson and John Bijarney, and was created in celebration of Dottie Podgorny's 30 years at Lowell.

The Financial Assistance Fund

The Financial Assistance Fund helps Lowell meet its commitment to enable students to attend Lowell regardless of their economic circumstances.

Memorial Gifts and Gifts in Honor

Gifts to the Endowment are always welcomed and can be made in honor of faculty, staff, or family members. A gift in memory of a beloved and respected individual is an appropriate way to recognize the accomplishments of the deceased. Similarly a gift in celebration of an important milestone in a person's life such as a bar mitzvah, 10th birthday, graduation or retirement is also very appropriate. Lowell will gratefully accept gifts of any size, either unrestricted or designated to existing funds or programs, in recognition of an individual or group.

Named Fund

Lowell recognizes that a named fund is a meaningful way to say thank you to a great teacher or to someone in the donor's family who has been an inspiration. Donors are urged to consider naming funds in recognition of individuals in the Lowell community who have inspired or made significant contributions to the school. The minimum gift for a named fund in the Endowment is $25,000. See our Gift Acceptance Guidelines for more information.

Restricted Gifts

The most helpful gifts are those with the fewest restrictions. However, Lowell recognizes that donors may wish to restrict the use of a gift for a specific purpose that is not part of an existing fund. See our Gift Acceptance Guidelines for more information.
