Lowell School, a progressive school of approximately 330 students in NW Washington, DC, seeks a Director of Enrollment Management to begin July 1, 2024. Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Enrollment Management will serve on the senior leadership team and lead all enrollment efforts, guiding a team composed of an associate and Director of Financial Aid. Strong candidates are attracted to Lowell’s mission and see themselves as engaged community members.
At least five years of leadership and management experience, with related admission/enrollment experience at either an independent school or university setting, sitting director preferred
Required Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of current enrollment, admission and marketing trends and best practices, with the flexibility and strategic vision to develop new and emerging strategies and practices
Adeptness with both the art and science of admissions; the ability to connect authentically with people and utilize data effectively to inform admissions/enrollment activity
Demonstrated engagement in and a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills and a robust understanding of data
Demonstrated success with enrollment management and financial aid platforms
Excellent communication skills, especially empathetic listening, engaging speaking and storytelling, and strong writing skills
Experience with researching and adopting best practices in enrollment management and financial aid
Proficiency in Ravenna and data analysis tools
Ability to manage, motivate, and work collaboratively with others
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a thought partner with the Head of School and senior leadership team
Manage the day-to-day operations of the admissions office and assist the team in coordinating the admissions process for all prospective families, including inquiries, visits, applications, and admissions decisions
Lead the Admissions Committee in reviewing all 2.5 yr - 8th grade applicants, with a goal of ensuring that selected students will thrive academically, social, and emotionally
Lead the retention committee, and refine systems, partnerships, and connections to retain current students and their families
Collaborate with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure accessibility for a diverse student body and families that meet the criteria of Lowell’s budget and revenue growth
Collaborate regularly with the Director of Development and Director of Communications as a member of the Advancement Team
Use data analytics and research to identify trends, assess the effectiveness of admissions efforts, and establish, track, and adapt strategic progress toward enrollment goals, including optimal school and class size, retention, and new admits
Stay abreast of admission and enrollment best practices and regularly participate in professional development activities
Develop and implement innovative strategies to meet or exceed enrollment goals across all three divisions, ensuring a diverse student body that authentically lives out Lowell’s mission
Attend and report to the Board of Trustees meetings in order to keep them fully apprised of the school’s admission, enrollment, and financial aid data and policies
Cultivate strong relationships with prospective families, educational consultants,
community partners, access organizations and feeder schools to enhance the school’s reputation and expand its reach
Extend themselves beyond the responsibilities of a job description as the need arises
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency
Long periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
