Diversity Discussions and Training

The first discussion took place on January 28 at Sidwell Friends Lower School. There were over 100 educators in attendance, 20 of whom were from Lowell. Jason was excited to take such a large group from Lowell. “All children need spaces where they can thrive and engage as their true selves and in the fullness of their identity. Conversations like this one allow our faculty to engage in broader perspectives and work that taps into the genuine spirit and . . . needs of our communities," he explained.

Topics that evening ranged from “Affinity Groups in Lower Schools” and “Cultural Competency as Part of the Curriculum” to “Talking about Bias in Age-Appropriate Ways” and “LGBT Issues in Lower Schools.” The evening was so popular that a second event has been scheduled for March 31.
